Close the Month
What landed, what is still owed, and what the month earned.

Inside the file
- 01Money that arrived, and money you paid
- 02Invoices still unpaid, and bills you have not paid
- 03What landed, and the month on paper, written out on a second sheet
A profit and loss template treats money that arrived as money you earned. They are not the same. This spreadsheet is one month: what came in, what you paid, who still owes you, and which bills you have not paid.
You fill the month name and the lines. What landed is money in minus money out. The month on paper adds invoices you have sent and not been paid, and subtracts bills you still owe. The second sheet writes those figures as sentences.
People look for a profit and loss sheet, or for accounting software, when they cannot tell if the month worked. This file answers that. It does not do your accounts.
Good for
Freelancers and one-person shops who need to close a month without opening accounting software.
Leave it
Anyone who needs a ledger, payroll, inventory, or tax advice. This is one month. It does not file anything.
Before you pay
How long does it take?
About twenty minutes the first month. After that, you fill the new lines.
What if a client pays me for last month?
That cash lands this month. The sheet says so when what landed is larger than the month on paper.
Is this tax or accounting advice?
No. Your accountant still owns the rules where you live.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Open the Excel file in Google Sheets or in Excel.
